Hello. After a lot of thinking and a lot of tears, I've come to the decision were I need to re-home my male 19yr old (16/03/2005) European/Eurasian Eagle Owl called Boo. Article 10 Certificate No. as follows:
CERTIFICATE DETAILS
• A10 #: 275159/01/01
• DOB/Hatched: 16/03/2005
• Acquired: 28/03/2005
I suffer from disability with problems in my lumber spine and effects my legs that is only getting worse and throughout time will only continue to get worse, so I need to sadly re-home my EEO.
He's a lovely soul, but obviously with any bird being rehomed you'll have to spend that quality time with him so he gets to know and trust you.
All I want is to find the right home and person for him.
He will be best for someone who is just one on one, meaning no public displays. He flies well to the fist from person to person or perch to person. He's fed on a quality mixed diet, always has been.
He won't go to just anyone. The right person will need to provide pictures of housing he will be kept in, with an aviary being required as I don't want him kept tethered at all as he's always been free-lofted (exemption obviously when being cleaned out).
I am located in the Scottish Borders, postcode TD8. There are people out there that operate a bird transportation business if you cannot come pick him up yourself. Cost of collecting this way would be your own. Depending on distance from successful person & myself, I may be able to meet half way (distance depending due to my mobility).
The right person will have very good experience with European Eagle Owls and all aspects of keeping birds of prey. If you have had no experience with EEO'S then please do not register your interest, I will only re-home him to someone with real experience with EEO'S.
I've had my boy since he was 12 day's old and has been with me all this time so rehoming him is not an easy decision but with my health I can no longer look after him the way he deserves as I cannot get out everyday to fly him due to mobility. He has been raised around dogs from day 1 but obviously with rehoming he will need time to get used to any dogs that the successful new owner may have (if any at all), just like he'll need time with new owner to get used to them also.
His Article 10 Certificate is present and will obviously be given to the new owner.
I'm looking for someone who will take care of him for I'm hoping the rest of his life. He is only 19yrs old and for an EEO that isn't that old so bare that in mind! Probably best for those that are in the countryside, or for those with good neighbours as EEOs can be quite loud during the breading season (like any mature birds, particularly owls - woooooohooooo!).
This is a very hard time for me as having to give up my owl for rehoming that I've had and raised since he was 12 day's old is very sad and stressful. I will miss him dearly but I know this is the best thing for him.
PLEASE, NO TIME WASTERS! This is a hard enough time for me as it is. I do not want anyone that is going to waste my time, thank you!
Take care and thanks again.
