I am looking for a good home for Percy, who is my 5 year old galah cockatoo. This is through no fault of his own, but due to changes in my circumstances.
He is a very friendly bird, will step up on to any hand, gets on well with everybody. He is used to dogs, cats and children. He likes to cuddle and kiss. He can be a bit nippy when he doesn't want to go back in his cage or if he's not in the mood to be touched, this is not often, but does hurt.
He is very talkative. He says "hello," "night night," "see you in the morning," "your gorgeous," "peekaboo", and more. He does not swear. He laughs and whistles too. He is very intelligent and likes to play peekaboo, and hides his head under his wing.
Like all parrots he does have times when he is noisy. This is natural behaviour and he loves a good squawk once or twice a day. This has never bothered me, but it is loud and you should be aware, and happy to live with it.
He is in good health, and has never had any problems. He has just had a big moult so his feathers are not quite as smart as usual at the moment, but soon will be.
He is very agile and likes to hang upside down, play on his swing and do rollypollies on the floor. And he likes to stretch his wings and have a fly. He likes to play with toys, particularly the kind he can shread.
He comes with his cage, and all the bits and bobs I have.
He is still a young boy, and will make the right person a loving companion. I have tried to give an honest description of him as it is important to understand the pros and cons of owning a cockatoo.
I am happy to answer any questions, and you are welcome to view him. We are 15 min north of Lincoln.
