RARE SHETLAND CHICKENS

I am a small scale hobby breeder of rare SHETLAND FOWL POULTRY. As the name suggest, Shetlands are a land race originally from the Shetland Islands. They are medium sized L/F and correct in nearly all colours and feather patterns. I breed mostly black based birds feathering up to beautiful solid Black, Black/silver and Black/gold. Most hatch with a 'tappit' (head crest) but smooth crowns do appear and are perfectly acceptable. Hens lay a medium sized GREEN egg. They are good natured, hardy and long lived and the males are generally easy to live with. From this years hatch I have a QUARTET available (1 cockerel and 3 pullets). Hatched May 2026. I am looking for a keeper with an interest in preserving rare breeds and a clean, spacious, predator proof home with some free ranging if and when safe to do so.
