    How To Feed Finches Properly

If you're thinking of buying a finch, find out how to feed it a nutritious diet

Finches for sale can make great pets, but often it can be difficult to know how exactly to provide them with a proper nutritious diet.

Finches eat mostly seeds. Aim to give them a feed mix fortified with amino acids, which they need regularly.

Around 5-10% of a finch’s diet should be composed of fruit and vegetables, which are essential if your finch is to remain healthy. Cut up apples, grapes, carrots and bananas for them.

It’s a good idea to buy mealworms at a pet shop to feed to your finch occasionally. Mealworms are a great source of protein and help your finch gain muscle and bone strength.

Finches need lots of water but try to give them distilled water rather than tap water due to the additives contained in the latter. Make sure to change the water at morning and night.

You can also add liquid vitamins to their water to fortify your pet finch even further.
