To start breeding the canaries for sale that you have just bought, all you need is to make sure that you have a male canary and a female canary! (Male canaries sing, females do not, that is a hint!)
You need to place the male and female canary in the same cage with just one nest between them. Sometimes they will fight – keep a check on this – but eventually nature will take its course and the canaries should breed. Make sure they have lots of light and are well fed.
Feeding them extra fruits can help them breed, such as apples and oranges.
A female canary will usually lay about five eggs per nest. After two or three nests canary breeders usually stop their female breeding, to make sure she stays in good condition.
Female canaries will feed their young, but you should keep lots of hard-boiled egg in the cage for them to use.
