Does Colour Affect a Bird's Choice of Food?

This is an interesting question and something which is yet to proven either way. Scientists and researchers have tried for years to find out whether birds food colour affects their choice and have yet to find any firm evidence although they have found out some other interesting facts. %%AFC-ADVERT%%

Scientists have found that birds have a much broader perception of colour compared to humans which means they can see a far more varied range of colours than we can. This may mean that colour could be a deciding factor when choosing bird food.

Researchers and scientists have also found that when birds are choosing bird food they filter out anything green although this has not been proven of any other colour of birds food.

As nothing has been proven as to whether the colour of bird food or the colour of bird feeders affects choice then it is best to stick with natural colours which birds would find in their natural habitats. You can also try experimenting to see how many birds are attracted to your garden using different colour feeders and changing the birds food.
