How to Catch a Peacock on the Loose
U2 frontman Bono’s neighbours might want to take a look at this article just in case his pesky peahen makes a run for it again. Peacocks are an unlikely bird to have to catch but, like all birds, they often try to escape or end up in your yard when you don’t want them to be.
If the peacock’s cage is yours, move it to a confined area, such as a barn or shed. Attempting to catch peacocks in an open field or green space is difficult. By herding the peacocks into an enclosed space, you will have an easier time controlling the bird’s movements.
Place grain, worms or any type of bird feed that you usually give to your peacocks in the cage and leave the door open.
Approach the bird (plural, if you’re unlucky) whilst walking towards the confined space containing the cage and food. Use a net or friend to herd the peacock(s) and control where they move.
Herd the peacocks into the cage and shut the door.
