Fancy pigeon is the term given to more than 300 different kinds of pigeon kept domestically all over the world. Fancy pigeon breeders have bred these birds to appear and behave in certain ways, often being used in shows or for hobbies. If you are considering buying these pigeons for sale, see the following guide for more information.

    Home
When thinking about a pigeon for sale, it is important to give it a good home. Normally, a chicken coop or rabbit hutch is suitable, with each fancy pigeon pair having their own hutch. If you have numerous pairs, it will be worth having a loft built for the birds to fly around. A pot of sand should be provided for the birds to lay their eggs and the floor should be covered in hay.

    Food
You must feed your fancy pigeon birds two times a day. Their food consists of grains, nuts and seeds, which combined give the birds a balanced diet. Other food includes:
    Wheat
    Barley
    Ground nut
    Green peas
    Corn
    Ground egg shell (for vitamins/minerals)
    Grit (helps digestion)

    Water
Water must be kept fresh, so change it for the birds each time you feed them. The water can be given in a bowl or dog dish.

    Health
Fancy pigeon breeders must pay attention the health of their birds. Look out for behaviour changes, lethargy and lack of appetite. These are all signs that a fancy pigeon is ill.
