    Woman Breaches Pigeon ASBO

A woman who was slapped with an ASBO by persistently feeding pigeons, thereby attracting hundreds of feral birds to her home and driving her neighbours potty, has avoided jail for breaching said ASBO. The pigeon lover claimed that she was actually addicted to attracting pigeons to her home and compared giving it up to the same experience for a smoker who wants to quit nicotine.

Last October, the 55 year old Shirley, Surrey resident was given an anti-social behaviour order that banned her from feeding pigeons in her back yard but in April of this year a neighbour shopped her for presumably breaching the order. Stephan Black, defending, told the court Foreman fed the pigeons because she thought it would make them go away.

He said: “She is by nature an animal lover and keeps pigeons in the back of her garden.

“While feeding them she started feeding feral pigeons –it just escalated. She’s remorseful and knows she needs to stop, but she’s finding it very difficult.”
