A pet African Grey parrot, known to whistle the tune of the Pink Panther, as well as Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life and the music from the A-Team, has gone missing in Whitley Bay, North Tyneside. Owner Joan Huskisson, 59, said the bird, called Tino, was startled into flight by the sound of a bin lid falling to the ground.

'The house is so quiet without him,' said Joan.

African Grey parrots are usually found in the rainforests of West and Central Africa and, if looked after well, can live to up to 70 years old in captivity.
