Shocking Pigeon Cruelty in Wigan Park

According to shocked eyewitnesses, young thugs kicked a pigeon to death in a Greater Manchester park to make a point. Moments earlier, the two boys had been publicly told off by a nature lover for stoning ducklings and goslings on the pond in Mesnes Park.

Stunned witnesses believe they took out their embarrassment by attacking the helpless bird, which, seconds earlier had been pecking bread scraps from children.

Witness Pam Shaw, a Manchester actress, caught snaps of the young boys on her mobile phone and complained to the police. She is now demanding better park ranger provision at Mesnes Park, a Victorian masterpiece. But WLCT – which is battling to save a quarter of its annual budget because of Government cuts – today denied it had left the park “unprotected” in an effort to save cash.

And it stressed it takes reports of such incidents “very seriously”.
