Severe Parrot Neglect in Florida
A pet rescue group has discovered dozens of dead or severely dehydrated parrots left severely neglected at a Florida home. Jeff McLain of Orlando-based Parrots As Pets Rescue says he was contacted about the birds Monday by caretakers of a rental property in Sebring. Around 25 parrots were found alive but in a serious condition and roughly fifty were found to have starved to death. Parrots as Pets Rescue took 15 quaker parrots, two green-cheeked conure parrots and one severe macaw.
According to the rescuers the live parrots had been left in the same cages as the dead ones. The temperature in the room was found to be 115 degrees Fahrenheit. However, after being rescued, the birds have been cleaned and received water and food. A veterinarian is expected to visit them today. The relevant authorities in the country are searching for the woman who rented the property.
