    Sea eagles may return to the skies above Cumbria

    Hundreds of years ago, the sea eagle was a common sight soaring over the estuaries and fells of Cumbria.

    However, the birds became extinct in Britain during the early 1900s.

    A reintroduction programme was started in Scotland in 1975 and there are now plans which could see the return of the bird of prey to Cumbria.
