San Francisco To Ban Pet Sales?
Soon birds for sale could be a thing of the past in the Californian city of San Francisco – as the city council mulls a ban on all animals for sale! The ban would cover everything from dogs and cats to snakes, lizards, guinea pigs, parrots, mice and rats. It has been called the most radical proposed ban in the United States, but the supporters of the “Humane Pet Acquisition Proposal” say it would put an end to animal cruelty. However bird breeders and pet shop owners have called the proposal “stupid”. Potential pet owners could still buy birds and other animals from rescue shelters. Ironically, San Francisco is named after the patron saint of animals – will this move work in their favour?
