RSPCA Appeal for Pigeons
The RSPCA has launched an appeal after a dozen pigeons have been shot dead in the past few weeks in one street in Kettering. They fear that a vigilante “pest-controller” has taken matters into his own hands in Oakley Street after twelve pigeons were found dead from gunshot wounds. RSPCA inspector Clint Davies said he was alarmed at the number of deaths in such a small area after carrying out searches in the street and speaking to residents. Anybody with any information is urged to contact the RSPCA cruelty line on 0300 1234 999. It is an offence to injure or kill a wild bird under the Wildlife & Countryside Act and offenders can face a fine of up to £5,000 and six months’ imprisonment.
