RSPB Seeviews Scheme Hits Funding Jackpot
RSPB Scotland has scored a victory by landing funding worth over £235,000 for it’s Seeviews scheme. The Seeviews scheme has been set up to protect Scotland’s population of white-tailed sea eagles, majestic birds of prey that were absent from the country between 1918 (the date that the last native sea eagle was killed in Shetland) and 1975, when a reintroduction programme began on the Isle of Rum. The money from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) will support the project and also extend efforts to re-introduce sea eagles to east Scotland by 12 months. Mull, Wester Ross and Skye already have established populations following earlier re-introductions.
