Racing Pigeons Slaughtered
A racing pigeon breeder in Edinburgh has been left “extremely upset” after his 52 racing pigeons were found murdered sometime on Friday night. Brian O’Neil locked his three pigeon lofts overnight on Friday but on Saturday morning found all 52 of his birds dead, after having been struck with a large object. There were 42 adult birds and 10 chicks amongst the dead. Altogether the flock of pigeons was valued at around £30,000. Lothian and Borders Police are appealing for witnesses to the killings, which have left the owner “extremely upset”.
A police spokesman said: "This has been a sickening act of animal cruelty, which has left the birds’ owner extremely upset at the death of his birds.
"Anyone who can assist us in identifying those responsible for this incident is asked to contact police immediately.”
