Pigeon Crime On The Rise in Western Canada
Police in Abbotsford, BC, Canada, are stumped after a spate of burglaries in which 5,500 pigeons have seemingly vanished into thin air in the province. 4,000 birds were stolen in November from pigeon farms in the vicinity of the town of Abbotsford. On Valentine's Day, another 1,400 were stolen in one fell swoop (alongside seven goats.) One bird can sell for up to ten Canadian dollars - so the thieves could possibly sell their loot for up to twenty-five thousand. The search for the pigeons has now reached the internet as police monitor classifieds sites such as Craigslist for large-scale pigeon sales.
