    Parrots on the Slopes

An interesting parrot story today: Fiz and Buzz are two black-headed caique parrots who hit the slopes whenever possible. Their owner Mrs Hartley is so devoted to her pet parrots that she even takes them with her when she goes skiing in France! They sit in her pockets whilst she bombs down black runs and go in her coat when she uses the ski lift. When back home, the parrots accompany Mrs Hartley when she does the school run.

They even go with her when she walks the dog – and sit on her arm whilst she does the shopping.

‘I get a lot of people stopping and staring but most seem to find it quite amusing,’ said Mrs Hartley, 52, of Loughborough, Leicestershire.

‘They are easy to carry around and love the freedom they have, and they really enjoy our bike rides.’

She added: ‘If we go to France we fill in a Defra form and get them checked over a day before we leave.

‘But we end up taking a lot of luggage for them.’
