A mischevious African Grey has driven its owner mad after mimicking her smoke alarm

An escaped parrot ended up driving its owner up the wall after learning to mimic the sound of her house’s smoke alarm. Sammi, an African Grey parrot, went missing for days. Her owner Ms Sexton of Torquay put up posters in the area in an attempt to find her parrot. At the same time she drove herself crazy looking for the source of the high-pitched sound in her house – she even had workmen round to the house to find it. Eventually, they found Sammi perched in the garden, whistling at the exact same pitch as her smoke alarm! Ms Sexton claims the parrot has continued to make the noise, and is also capable of telling family members that she loves them.
