The owner of a parrot in Australia is staging a protest outside the headquarters of that country’s RSPCA. The protest comes after the animal rights organisation confiscated Justin Lawther’s pet parrot Angus, which he had filmed clinging to the windscreen wipers of a speeding car in a video he later uploaded to YouTube. Mr Lawther, a resident of Melbourne, now wants the parrot returned and claims that the parrot is “a substitute for a son” to him.

But RSPCA senior inspector Simon Primrose said the organisation would oppose in the magistrates’ court Mr Lawther’s request to get his bird back.He said the RSCPA believed it was in Angus’s best interests not to be returned to Mr Lawther and it was still considering animal cruelty charges against Mr Lawther.
