A harrier hawk has been found shot on the idyllic Mediterranean island of Malta – however, it miraculously survived, and the bird of prey has been sent to Germany for rehabilitation. It received preliminary veterinary care in Malta, but since rehabilitation facilities for wild birds are lacking in Malta, the bird was sent to Berlin, where it has received further veterinary treatment. The NGO that assisted with moving the bird of prey to Berlin said that it has received 26 shot protected birds since the spring hunting season started on April 13.
