A South American rhea bird has been spotted running around Lincolnshire

Lincolnshire police are searching for a flightless bird that has been spotted moving around the county. The police force received reports on Saturday of a South American rhea bird – similar to the ostrich – in the environs of Thorpe Culvert, near to the town of Wainfleet. It could be injured. Police have advised that anybody who comes into contact with the bird should contact police rather than try and save it themselves, as the bird can kick powerfully with its clawed feet. At least it isn’t a cassowary on the loose!
