Two male conures in Derbyshire form such a close bond that RSPCA staff have them wed

This is a bit late, but when we found this bit of heartwarming bird news we couldn’t help but tell you about it, even if it is a month late! Two conures in Derbyshire, UK, have been joined together in a “civil partnership” – the conures are both male. Joey and Peter have been inseparable since being taken in together by the RSPCA Centre in Abbey Street, Derby. The ceremony was carried out on Valentine’s Day in order to raise awareness of birds and other animals that have formed close bonds and need to be re-homed together rather than separately. Staff say the bond between Joey and Peter is unusual as conures rarely tend to bond with one another.
