The Suffolk Wildlife Trust announces a project to look out for Britain's declining sparrow population

Conservationists claim that Britons need to be vigilant for sparrows to help rescue the bird, whose numbers are declining across the UK. As hedgerows decline across the country the UK’s sparrow population has dropped to 3% of what it was in the 1970s. Suffolk Wildlife Trust is running a project that aims to monitor the decline by putting coloured rings on sparrows.  This way conservationists can record their age without having to catch them in order to report back to the trust.
