Police in Georgetown, Kentucky claim to have been called to the car park of a Walmart in the town after shoppers reported twelve chickens kept in a car in the heat.  Animal Control officers say 12 chickens had been in the car while the owners shopped for about 30 minutes. One of the birds tragically died and the rest were taken to a shelter. The mean temperature in Kentucky yesterday was 34 degrees Celsius, but Georgetown police say that any charges made against the owner of the chickens – who had a North Carolina licence plate – will be up to Animal Control.
