Buzzard found shot dead on Isle of Wight
A protected buzzard found dead on the Isle of Wight had been shot and killed deliberately, police have said.
The body of the bird was discovered in a water meadow near Lower Road, Adgestone, near Sandown on 30 March.
Police said investigations had shown that it had not died a natural death and its injuries were consistent with gunshot wounds.
They want to hear from anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the area at the time.
The species is protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 and it is an offence to kill, injure or take a buzzard, or to take, damage or destroy an active nest or its contents.
