In Miami International airport last month, Alberto Diaz Gonzalez, 76, was caught smuggling 16 birds into the US from Havana. The extremities that smugglers will go to are surprising as Gonzalez was found, when he was searched and patted down, to have the birds sewn into his trousers amd a couple in a tube in his pocket.

He did admit to his plans of selling the Cuban bullfinches in America and now faces a large fine of $250,000 and up to 20 years of jail time.
