Birds of Prey Stolen From Manchester Sanctuary

Thieves have stolen three birds of prey from a Manchester bird sanctuary. They smashed the locks on the aviary at Wild Wings Birds of Prey Centre in Worsley at some time between 5pm on Sunday and 2.30am on Monday. Owner Ian Middleton says that   an African Tawny Eagle, a Harris Hawk and a Snowy Owl were taken.

Mr Middleton said: "It has devastated me and my partner and everybody that has helped us.

"We have spent a lot of time and effort and care getting these birds back to health."

According to Mr. Middleton the eagle only has half a wing so anybody trying to sell it on will find it not very valuable – and he fears they will then kill it.

Greater Manchester police urge anybody with any information to come forward.
