2000 blackbirds have dropped dead from the sky in Arkansas in a freak accident

In a freak accident, 2000 birds have dropped dead from the sky above Beebe, Arkansas in the USA. The birds were all red-winged blackbirds and fell from the sky on New Year's Eve during the night. Ornithologists have been unable to explain the phenomenon although many have offered the theory that the flock could have been hit by lightning or hail. They may also have been startled by New Year's Eve fireworks, causing them to die of stress. No other dead birds have been found near the blackbird roost, which allegedly rules out the chance that they may have been poisoned or otherwise tampered with.
