A pair of peregrine falcons that nest in a church tower in Bath are expecting chicks.

The birds of prey settled in the spire of St John the Evangelist Church in 2004 and return every year.

Mike Rogers, from the Hawk and Owl Trust, said the female had been sitting on a clutch of eggs for almost a month.

Peregrines are protected birds in the UK and the RSPB said their numbers were still low.

Mr Rogers said it was hoped that the four chicks would hatch this weekend.
