Sadly the harsh winter weather means many barn owls have been found dead in the Yorkshire Wolds

Sadly after the "Big Freeze" experienced by Britain this winter with plummeting temperatures in every region, reports come from the Yorkshire Wolds in East Yorkshire than barn owls have been dropping like flies.

Robert Fuller of the Wolds Barn Owls Group claims to have collected 24 dead barn owls in a five-mile radius of his home in the Yorkshire Wolds.

Owls can be left without food when the ground is snowy as their prey - voles, mice etc - are able to hide underneath the snow.
