Arson Attack on Pigeon Cree
A devastating arson attack on an allotment in Boldon, Tyneside has left 28 pigeons dead. A caravan at East View Allotments caught fire during the early hours of Tuesday morning and the flames quickly spread to a nearby pigeon cree – killing 28 out of the 32 birds housed within. The pigeons’ owner, Billy Miller, 45, spoke yesterday of his devastation at the suspected arson attack. Mr Miller is a member of the Boldon Homing Society and has been racing pigeons for just over two years but claims this is not the first time pigeons have been attacked at the allotments. In January another fire was started at the allotments that killed several chickens and a goose. Mr Miller has pointed to the fact that hooded youths are regularly riding their bikes and being nuisances in the vicinity of the allotments.Police are now investigating the incident.
