    African Grey Stolen In Burglary

A Manchester family has been left devastated after knife-wielding thieves forced their way into their home, all to steal their pet African grey parrot. Ruby, a three year-old African grey, was snatched from her cage after the robbers threatened her owner with a knife. They also made off with a quantity of money from the house in Collyhurst, Greater Manchester. Ruby’s owner says “It was terrifying. We’re all really missing Ruby and just want her back. I’ve owned her since she was 12 weeks old – she’s part of the family.”

African Grey parrots can be very lucrative for thieves to sell on, sometimes fetching up to £850. Ruby herself has an identification ring on, with the number 607V. Anybody who has been contacted with an offer of an African Grey for sale to get in touch.

Anyone with information is asked to call Bradford Park CID on 0161 856 3914 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
