    A Lancashire nature reserve has seen a phenomenal avocets breeding success

    According to BBC, avocets are flourishing at RSPB Leighton Moss nature reserve. More than 40 chicks flying the nest, 29 more than the reserve's previous record of 11, set in 2005, have been seen.

    "We never anticipated they would spread this far north," said Robin Homer, the site manager.
