Residents of the picturesque North Yorkshire village of Bishop Monkton have been confronted with their own murder mystery worthy of Midsomer Murders – revolving around two cockerels! The cockerels of Bishop Monkton are so popular that a hedge had been cropped in their likeness, but in the last couple of years cockerel owners have been receiving strange letters complaining about the noise from the birds crowing. Then last month three cockerels were stolen from their separate homes in the dead of the same night. One bird, Claude, was later found and recovered – but the cockerel hater returned to brutally murder him a week later.

Villagers have called on the police to solve the crimes and learn the fate of the two other stolen cockerels. Watch this space…
