    Feeding Garden Birds Black Oil Sunflower Seeds
    These seeds are great for feeding birds as they have thin easy to open shells and have a high fat content. They are small all black sunflower seeds and you can usually buy them from pet shops in bags of varying sizes. You can also find black oil sunflower seeds in mixed seed bags and they are great for wild bird feeding. 

    Feeding Birds Striped Sunflower Seeds
    These sunflower seeds are lager, have a lower fat content and a harder shell. These seeds are still excellent bird feed however the birds do prefer black oil sunflower seeds. 

    Thistle Seed Bird Feed
    This tiny little black seed is imported from India and Ethiopia, comes in small bags and is a popular bird feed for small garden birds. 

    Safflower Seeds
    These seeds are large with a white coating and can be used as substitutes for black oil sunflower seeds. 

    Feeding Garden Birds Nuts 
    You will find more and more nuts being introduced into seed mixes nowadays and these nuts are mostly peanuts and peanut hearts.
