A guide to the essential pet bird supplies
If you are thinking of keeping pet birds then you’ll need to know what bird supplies are needed. Unlike other domestic animals, pet birds live relatively complex lives and ensuring that they are healthy as well as happy is paramount. You’ll find there are many pet bird supplies that are available; some of which are a necessity whereas others are luxuries. In this guide we’ll help you to identify some of the most essential pet bird supplies.

    Perches
Perches are essential for all pet birds as they promote healthy feet and legs as well as comfort. Ideally you’ll want to buy a few perches for your bird’s cage but one perch is essential as it prevents the bird from having to stand on the cage bars. If you are able to buy a few perches, try selecting ones of varying width, as again this is good for the bird’s feet. Most perches are constructed of wood, however you can also get them made from rope, either of which are good options.

    Food & Water
Just like their owners, pet birds have a complex diet which if not adhered to, can cause health issues. The type of food you’ll need to look for when buying pet bird supplies will depend on what type of bird you are thinking of purchasing, so it is recommended that you look into this first.

You can get different types of food and water dispensers now-a-days, ranging from the more expensive, automatic dispensers which can purify the water before the bird drinks it, to the less expensive dishes where food and water is simply placed for the bird to access.

Whichever option you go for, make sure that the food and water is never placed directly below the perches, as this can lead to the birds droppings mixing with the food.

    Cage Covers
Like curtains in a bedroom, a cage cover is designed to keep light out during certain periods to ensure that your pet bird can rest comfortably. Rest is essential to ensuring that your bird is happy and healthy. It is advised that you research which colours, qualities and materials best suit your breed of bird.

These are the most basic but essential pet bird supplies that you will need when owning a bird. So if you are looking at birds for sale visit Bird Trader.
