    Cockatiels Care Tips

The cockatiel bird is said to be the second most popular pet bird choice (behind the budgie) and is much loved all over the world. Originating from Australia, it is now possible to find cockatiels for sale everywhere. Caring for your bird properly is the most important aspect of having a pet. If you are thinking about cockatiels for sale, read on for tips and advice on caring for them.

    Food

Be sure to feed and water your cockatiel bird everyday. Bird seed can be bought online or from pet shops. You can also feed your bird leafy vegetables, cuttlebone and calcium. Occasional treats should be given to keep your bird happy. These are usually fruity and very much loved by pet birds.

    Cage

In the bird cage you will need to place toys, perches and food dishes. Toys can include bells, ladders and a mirror.

    Talking

Cockatiel birds are very good at mimicking sounds and can be trained to say words. This can be done using specially made CDs or video (see YouTube video below).

    Bath

When you buy cockatiels for sale, it is important to know that they love water. A bird bath is a good item to include for this reason.

    Other

Some birds need to have their cages covered at night in order to get to sleep. Without this, they can be heard all night and will not have had enough sleep. Try it out on your cockatiel bird.
