Flea Bites Treatment
Before you can administer any flea bites treatment, you must identify which birds have the flea bites. You can find this out by seeing which birds look agitated, distracted and are trying to itch themselves with their beaks. Young chickens that have bird fleas will look unhappy and dishevelled.
Begin flea treatment by taking out all birds and moving them to a different place. Clean out the entire house and replace all the nesting. Now clean all the birds and chicks with a dry fowl shampoo or simple plain water. The flea bites will be soothed with this. After this you can move the birds back into their fresh home. Any remaining bird fleas they have should die off soon and their flea bites will heal up.
To prevent infestations in the future, ensure that the hen house is cleaned out every spring. This is the time that bird fleas thrive. Make sure that temperatures are not too high in the hen house. Use fans to regulate the temperature. Fleas love hot conditions.
Flea remedies will not be necessary for humans. It is uncommon that humans will be bitten. However, if you do find flea bites on yourself clean it with soapy water and apply an antibiotic ointment to sooth it.
